Tom

Name
- Tom Gara
Age - 25
Location - Cairo, Egypt
Nationality - Australian

Religious background - I am a Secular Humanist - although my spiritual side identifies with the Baha'i sometimes.....

Current occupation - Freelance writer, working part time in an Advertising agency

The thing I love the most about Ramadan - Feeling the never-ending primal roar of Cairo traffic go completely silent for an hour every day during Iftar....

The hardest/most annoying thing about Ramadan - If you are fasting, it is not being able to drink water in the morning just after waking up. If you are not fasting, it would probably be the insane traffic in the hour leading up to Iftar (at least in Cairo)

What I want to get out of Ramadan this year - In Ramadan 2004 I tried to resolve my spirituality dilemma - do I believe in God? This year I want to focus on capturing the essence of Ramadan in words and images.

My best Ramadan memory - Seeing a huge outdoor prayer on one of the main roads in Cairo, there must have been 10,000 people praying, or at least it felt like it....

Such a nice blog to be reading about those muslims and of other religions taking the experience of Ramadan. In 2004 you said you searched for your belief in God which alot including ourselves, muslims, tend to live in search of the Truth of this life. In search of God, books would help, but Nature including our own body complexity helps to look upon and think.

Good luck and enjoy this Ramadan
